There's all kind of aircraft around
Skyhaven Airport. They're not always visible but
if you keep looking, you will eventually
catch one at thefuel
pumps, or taxing to one of the runways. When
a hangar door opens, you could see anythingfrom
a sleek looking black jet to a beautifullypreserve
by-plane. How about a fabric covered taildragger?
Here's some projects that we've worked on. Aeronca
Champ: July
1, 03 - Here's an update on the progress on the Champ. The above picture
is shown as bare tubing. Click on the small picture to see enlargement.
Sometime in the near future, you just might see this baby sitting on the
ramp waiting for someone to take it for a ride...
Progress
on the Champ~
Dec. 24, 03 -- Jim Dubois tells me he's been so busy he hasn't been able
to have more done on the Champ, but it's coming. Here's a sneak peek of
the Champ in the hanger that was chuck full of airplanes at the time of
this pic. On the enlarged picture the top is covered by the wing of a 150
and the bottom shows the wing of a Mooney in the shop for repair.
Update on the
Champ! ~ Mar.
9, 04 - It looks like we might be seeing something new on the ramp (or
in the grass) in the not to distant future. Paul and Jim report the
Champ is coming right along. The engine has been fired up and things are
looking good.
On
the Ramp! ~ Mar.
17, 04 - Well it spent some time on the ramp during the anniversary open
house, but it's not quite ready yet. Here's a few more pics of the Champ
looking like it's ready to go.
The Finishing
Touch! ~ Mar.
28, 04 - Well here's the latest report about the progress on the work that
coming towards completion on the Champ. As you can see, with the expert
care and attention to detail by Paul and Jim it looks like we'll be having
another plane joining the fleet. But when you stop in to see this beauty,
remember, it's not just a plane. It's more like our maintenance hanger
giving birth to a new baby that will be taking to the skies to join the
rest of its family. If you're lucky, maybe you'll get a chance to fly her...
Thanks to Jim Dubois for these recent pics
IN THE LINE-UP! ~ 10-8-04
- Here's our newly restored Aeronca Champ from the ground up, or should
I say from the tubing up. The latest news about the Champ is now all about
flying. Want to fly this vintage tail dragger?
If you've never flown a
tail dragger before it will take a little more than check ride to fly it
by yourself. But, the good news is that we have qualified flight instructors
ready to help you meet the requirements. Oh, I forgot to mention, for those
of you who haven't been following the latest in modern intruments, that
round dial face instrument on top of the instrument panel looks like a
DG but it's actually a compass!
RARE
& UNUSUAL July 15 03 So I decided to take 43G
for a ride around the pee patch, or is that pea patch? Anyway, while I'm
preflighting I come around the tail of the aircraft and what do I see?
It's a bird... it's a plane... no, it's a boat... it's all the above, and
a rare one at that. Actually, it's a special bird that Dick Jackson's been
working on that originally came from the deep woods of Alaska.

Here's a few more pics which include Dick's biplane
Thanks to Jim Dubois, more Sikorsky pics
